CHRISTMAS DAY TAKE-AWAY
The shops are closed,
Except for the trusty IGA.
There’s no room in the fridge,
All stocked up for Christmas Day.
While the drinks cool in the esky,
The presents, wrapped under the tree,
Doused with tinsel snow,
Wait for us to open them and see.
And in the silence,
And stillness of the night,
Before the onslaught and rush,
We rest, reflecting on Christ our light.
